My longer one act This Almost Joy was performed at Theater West, one of the longest running theaters in Los Angeles. I was happy to be able to see the production and meet up with some of my SoCal friends.
News
Fighting Mr. Right in Seattle
Drunken Owl Theater will do a reading of my very popular rom-com Fighting Mr. Right. I’m especially happy about this because it’s in my home town of Seattle, so I’ll actually be able to see it myself.
Holy Hell in Tennessee
The Ensemble Theater of Chattanooga will record a podcast of Holy Hell, one of my most popular short plays. This is the poignant story of a man and woman who separately recount the accident that brought them together and the love that redeemed them both. It’s a two-hander with no set, so easy to produced. This is also why it’s a good play for a podcast.
Open Eye Theater in Margaretville, NY is performing Canyon’s Edge both live and as a podcast as part of their “Summer Shortcuts XII”.
Spinsters performed in Madrid
My short, funny two-hander Spinsters was performed as “Solteronas” in Madrid, Spain in the “First Festival of Microtheatre”. This came about because the producer had seen the play being done at a theater school, Metodo Madrid. This school has used many of my short plays and monologues, translated into Spanish, in their classes, which has led to several productions. Muchas gracias, Metodo Madrid!
Want is going to open soon!
My full length play Want will open July 29 at the Center House Theater in Seattle, WA. The extraordinary director and racially mixed cast are currently in rehearsal, and the designers are busy with costumes, props, sets, lighting, sound, etc. I have been able to continue to polish and refine the script throughout the rehearsal process, which is the advantage of having a play produced in my home town. Very exciting.
World premiere production of Want
My newest full length play Want is going to be produced in Seattle by The Shattered Glass Project in July/August of 2022. This is a group dedicated to supporting the work of female theater artists. I’m terribly excited about this first production of a new play, and eager to learn how audiences respond to it. It’s a gritty play, definitely for mature audiences.
Brand new one act play Somebody You’re Not has been chosen by Theater Southwest in Houston, TX to be part of their upcoming Festival of Originals, to be performed in July/August 2022.
Claudie’s Brother to be published
Short play Claudie’s Brother has been published by Next Stage Press as part of an anthology of plays either depicting people with disabilities. To order a copy, go to Next Stage Press Disability Forward.
And she also acts!
In December, 2021 I spent a week in Boise, ID filming a series of commercials for Idaho Central Credit Union. It was the best on-camera experience I’ve ever had; great cast, great crew, a whole lot of fun. I play Granny Ivy Green. Check it out YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3PPhsVNszg8
